The Battle Grounds Observer

...cuz Be Blue is back! With their application for the BGUnited , the league reached the necessary 6 teams in order to officially start. And, believe it or not, the first schedule ( found here ) puts them up against Alpina. The first week promises to be very interesting, as we will find out if Alpina will size up to Be Blue's expertise. The other two matches are 29th vs TRR, the best linebattle clan versus the godfathers of linebattling, and ofcourse the match between Bg2's newest linebattle clans: 47th and 42Cdo. The outcome of the first match is hard to predict, as for the second match we believe TRR's experience in skirmishes will give them the advantage, and the last match is likely to be won by 42Cdo, as they have beaten 47th before (in skirmishes!) . However, Alpina recently crushed 42Cdo with an amazing 5520 - 1570 ( details here ), showing that 47th can still bring home the bacon if they try hard enough. Before we showed you images of the American skins made by {3°RGF}.  Well the leader of {3°RGF} saw the article and kindly provided us with the files to share with all of you. We have sorted the files out so all you have to do is simply extract the "bg2" folder over your current one, and in each folder we have provided backups* of the original BG2 files. *We have not provided backups of the musket sounds as these are licensed to BG2, you will have to make you own backups and for this reason they are not included in our mega pack and will have to be downloaded and installed separately. Last Saturday |RC| called an emergency meeting.  Around the officers table Lord Liam informed the members that he was standing down and cancelling the the server.  No other members felt they could take over leadership and provide a server so the continuation of the clan was impossible.  Liam felt he had been blacklisted in the Battle Grounds 2 community and said he would be leaving the game. Red Company's lifespan in BG2 was fairly short, lasting around 3 months.  Some members will probably leave the BG2 community for good, some may move to other clans or just hang around.

Hello and welcome to another look at some of the custom maps provided by the community.  I wouldn't call this a review as unfortunately I have never played these maps properly with people. bg_forestroad_b3 Author: QwErTy Released: Unknown Forum: http://forums.bgmod.com//index.php?showtopic=5932 Download: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4PJ4WLW2 Despite the name this is not a remake of the BG1 map bg_forestroad.  But it is a forest with a road in it.  Essentially it is a horseshoe map, where the two teams spawn pretty much next to each other but are blocked off by scenery. It does follow the horseshoe format but actually it has a lot more room to manoeuvre than you would think due to having access to the reasonably large forest area in the middle of the map, which contains a flag surrounded by dead British soldiers as you can see above. Yesterday evening, our Observists found fragments of a conversation between 2 of the 42Cdo leaders. Our conclusion was that the alliance between 42Cdo and RC might be no more. Some of our information about the 51st wasn't completely accurate, alas. We are working on correcting this. The clan was slacking lately due to Wellington resigning as clanleader, but now they are picking up again under new leadership. Heinz has taken command, and is already reforming the clan: he plans to remove the bad apples and is working on assembling a team for the BGUnited , the current skirmish league. We wish him the best of luck! Another clan is also going through a rough period, namely the Red Company. Recently a big part of their most active members quit the clan. Using our superior investigative powers The Observer has uncovered some pretty neat looking player skins made by the French clan {3°RGF} (3°Régiment de Grenadiers Français).   As you may have guessed by the clan name they are based on French uniforms of the Napoleonic period. As you can see they have some pretty nice stuff here.  It's a shame is they haven't released these to the community as I'm sure there are a few Napoleonic Wars enthusiasts around.

A lot of clans have come and gone since the release of The Battle Grounds 2 in september 2005. Our redaction has chosen 3 linebattle and 3 skirmish teams that have left a lasting impression and should not be forgotten: this is your chance to brush up on your BG2 history! Note: This list is not a ranking. The clans are more or less in chronological order. Legendary linebattle clans: 1) The Royal Recruits, [TRR]: This clan goes back to Bg1 - they are the godfathers of linebattling. Being the first to hold public linebattles with a set of understandable rules and developing the basic commanding techniques, this clan has really  laid the foundation of the linebattling we know today. But it doesn't stop there: their mappers have made a large number of very well-known and popular linebattle maps such as trr_towton and trr_strangeways. UPDATE An anonymous reader has kindly emailed a list of authors for certain maps, still a few we are uncertain of though.  If anyone knows please drop us an email (See "Got a Story?" page). 10. bg_pirate_boats3 Coming in at a respectable 10th place is this chaotic map, which demonstrates why vehicles and Half Life 2 don't mix.  No objectives, just jump on a boat, try to control it, fall off then repeat.  Even so this map can provide a whole lot of fun.
