The Linebattle Championship is approaching and BG2 Development

At the Observer we have received an update on the progress of the LBC .  The site is near completion and the organisers are looking to sign up clans to participate so rules can be discussed.  So if you're in a linebattle clan tell your leader, or if you are a leader sign up here . Also in the Observer's hiatus development on BG2 seems to have increased in pace.  Screenshots of two new maps, bg_trenton and bg_township , have been posted to moddb .  Of course as some may know, bg_township isn't exactly a new map as it had featured in previous releases of BG2 years ago. There has also been a lot of discussion on the future of BG2 on the forums.  Don't panic, we're not talking about whether there is a future, but where the mod will be going in the future.  This was all sparked of by a new user reviving this two month old thread . There has been a lot of change in the BGU, the reigning champions Be Blue! are going inactive leaving Alpina and TRR to fight over thei

1v1 Tournament

A 1v1 Tournament has been announced by the BGU.  Putting each clans finest players against each other. A melee only competition will end with Europe's best blade master crowned Champion. Don't worry if you are clan-less, there are a few open spaces available for non clan members assigned by lottery.  They have an application thread where you can put yourself forward. Good luck to all who enter and remember, aim for the head! -Observer

The Return of the King

Just a small article today.  Most of our readers will have heard of Red Company |RC|, headed by King Liam, and they will also know that the left BG2 after believing they had been black listed in the BG2 community . Well we have some news.  They are back, albeit under a new name, |KNR| (Kingdom of Navarey Rifles).  They took that name after leaving BG2 and taking up WW1:source, which is all but dead after potteh, the lead programmer, decided to leave and not let the mod use his code. It is always good when players join or rejoin the community and with a member list in its 70's this is a large collection.  I hope you all welcome |KNR| and may they have a longer life in BG2 this time. That's it for now. -The Observer.

So... It's been a while

I know we said to watch this space in the last post and that was some time ago.  There is a fair bit of stuff going on right now in BG2. LBC Reformation The LBC is coming back, old news?  Well you wouldn't be mistaken for thinking so, but the reformation in question is not the one Swarth was setting up.  That seems to have fallen into a black hole somewhere. The latest revival attempt is being headed up by 42 Commando, one of BG2's most active linebattle clans.  They have a section on their forums for discussion on this new tournament here , From what we have gathered they are having a website built for it.  This should wet the appetites of all the linebattle clans out there hasn't been a successful linebattle tournament/league since the LBC closed its doors last July. Battle for the Colonies 2/3/4/some number (delete as applicable) Battle for the Colonies (BFTC) was an event created back in the days of BG1.  A risk sort of game where players are assigned to fight f

Battlegrounds 2 History X

Long time no post from us at the Observer.  This one isn't really our own work, just highlighting other community documenting efforts. First we have some clan histories compiled by joethepro36 of 42 Commando , which includes accounts from Alpina, Be Blue, The Royal Recruits and 42 Commando.  He is still looking for other clans to contribute so if you have a story to tell get in contact with him. View the topic on the 42 Commando forums. Also we have a video log series starring Crippled_Fetus from the 29th Worcestershire Regiment of Foot and Swarth of the 47th Lancashire Regiment of Foot .  They discuss the formation of both the 29th and 47th. View their Youtube channel page. We currently have plans for new articles so watch this space.

Community news update!

We're back! We thought tiedup's interview was enough lecture for a few weeks, so the entire redaction has been on holiday in Libya.  Let's start off with some good news: we have in fact managed to produce an oracle for BGU matches between the top 3 clans. Your predictions will never be wrong again! Unfortunately, one of bg's oldest clans, TEHO, had to leave the league as they are in need of more players. The latest drama involves 42Cdo and 28th: these clans do not seem to like eachother at all, and their respective clanleaders have had some heated discussions. For more information on this, you can check the 42Cdo forum , which is in fact a great source for bg2-drama. Moving on, we have some news regarding Livgarden: the recently appointed leader Heinz was replaced by the original founder, Wellington. The weeks of inactivity did not do the clan any good, they did not manage to bring enough members for a linebattle against 3°RGF. All is quiet on the North Am

An Interview with TIEdup14

Recently we were contacted by a player who left the community some time ago wishing to have be interviewed.  He was TIEdup14, the leader of 'The Heroic Elite', which had the 4 teams, the. , .td , .3e and .eu . Here is that interview. <@bgo> So, pretty standard first question.  What would you say your proudest achievement was in Battle Grounds? <TIEdup14> Hmm, good one <TIEdup14> As far as the general community goes, I'd say I'm most proud of ressurecting the then-defunct BFTC (second incarnation) <TIEdup14> Of course it died out eventually, but it brought together a lot of players from many different parts of the BG community.  Sort of bridged the gap between LB/Skirmish communities <TIEdup14> I took a look at the bgmod forums and I see that they are trying to bring it back for a third incarnation-- good for them, I do hope it works out.  Though I think the less that the devs are involved with it, the better <TIEdup14> Thes
