So... It's been a while

I know we said to watch this space in the last post and that was some time ago.  There is a fair bit of stuff going on right now in BG2.

LBC Reformation
The LBC is coming back, old news?  Well you wouldn't be mistaken for thinking so, but the reformation in question is not the one Swarth was setting up.  That seems to have fallen into a black hole somewhere.

The latest revival attempt is being headed up by 42 Commando, one of BG2's most active linebattle clans.  They have a section on their forums for discussion on this new tournament here, From what we have gathered they are having a website built for it.  This should wet the appetites of all the linebattle clans out there hasn't been a successful linebattle tournament/league since the LBC closed its doors last July.

Battle for the Colonies 2/3/4/some number (delete as applicable)
Battle for the Colonies (BFTC) was an event created back in the days of BG1.  A risk sort of game where players are assigned to fight for either America or Britain with the goal of capturing all the territories in America.  The idea A few players are chosen to lead each side and decide on which territories to attack and organising the rest of the team.

Last year there was a BFTC for BG2 which was run by TIEdup14.  All in all it was a success, aside from the British team being stacked by having the whole of TRR on their roster which guaranteed a good turnout opposed to the sometimes depleted American team.  The campaign brought in a lot of players who normally would have had very little to do with the community.

Now Forlorn_Hope, a dev team member, is starting a new campaign and it should be up and running in around a months time.  For more details see the thread on the bgmod forums.

The commanders can use whatever tactics they would like, maybe we could see some hybrid tactics involving lines and smaller skirmishing teams.  The plan is to use the new ticket system which is scheduled for the next release of BG2 rather than the points system which the prior campaign used.

Lights, Camera, Mel Gibson
BG2 now has it's own  machinima studio.  Formed by Pte.V.Santi Koach and Pte. Octavius, both of the 47th Lancashire Regiment of Foot.  They are currently looking for actors for their projects, you can visit their site here.

Playing the numbers game
In other news GK, who joined into 42Cdo, then formed 28th, the rejoined GK have left GK and have given themselves a new name (number), they are now known as {69th} New York Volunteers Infantry Regiment.  It's seems they must be environmentalists as they have decided to recycle the name of the former BG2 clan 69th Regiment.

Back from the dead
Grantelbart has released an old official map made by tomdom which was removed some time ago, bg_township.  You can check out some screen shots and a preview here.

The best of the rest
42Cdo have de-activated their 2 BGU teams to restructure.  Probably bigger news for them is they are re branding as a multi-gaming clan, with teams for ARMA 2 and Age of Chivalry.

Be Blue has a 4 win streak in the BGU which has earned them two titles.

See you around!
