The Linebattle Championship is approaching and BG2 Development

At the Observer we have received an update on the progress of the LBC .  The site is near completion and the organisers are looking to sign up clans to participate so rules can be discussed.  So if you're in a linebattle clan tell your leader, or if you are a leader sign up here . Also in the Observer's hiatus development on BG2 seems to have increased in pace.  Screenshots of two new maps, bg_trenton and bg_township , have been posted to moddb .  Of course as some may know, bg_township isn't exactly a new map as it had featured in previous releases of BG2 years ago. There has also been a lot of discussion on the future of BG2 on the forums.  Don't panic, we're not talking about whether there is a future, but where the mod will be going in the future.  This was all sparked of by a new user reviving this two month old thread . There has been a lot of change in the BGU, the reigning champions Be Blue! are going inactive leaving Alpina and TRR to fight ...

|RC| is officially disbanded

Last Saturday |RC| called an emergency meeting.  Around the officers table Lord Liam informed the members that he was standing down and cancelling the the server.  No other members felt they could take over leadership and provide a server so the continuation of the clan was impossible.  Liam felt he had been blacklisted in the Battle Grounds 2 community and said he would be leaving the game. Red Company's lifespan in BG2 was fairly short, lasting around 3 months.  Some members will probably leave the BG2 community for good, some may move to other clans or just hang around.

TRR returns & Alliance dissolved?

Image
Yesterday evening, our Observists found fragments of a conversation between 2 of the 42Cdo leaders. Our conclusion was that the alliance between 42Cdo and RC might be no more. We quote: Greedychris : Wow, that was a fun argument, RC having a go at us. Joethepro36 : This stuff is starting to piss me off. I'm supposed to condemn RC's "rebels" for solidarity and all that and now I think they're right. Greedychris : Yeah, it's funny. Joethepro36 : We practically had the real life version of a military standoff over a single ex-RC member joining us for christ's sake! --- UPDATE: We have received additional information proving that the alliance has been dissolved. |RC| Liam Cuddihy: " There cannot be commaraderie between rc and 42Cdo if all of our traitors and rebels and people who head hunted from us to cause trouble and acted heavily against us all take refuge in your (42Cdo) ranks." --- On a brighter note, The Royal Recruits are back!...

Livgarden reforming, Red Company in trouble?

Hello Observists, Let me start by apologizing for the mistakes that were made in our earlier article BG2: Legendary European Clans . Some of our information about the 51st wasn't completely accurate, alas. We are working on correcting this. If you spot any mistakes, or think we forgot something, do not hesitate to email us about it ! Moving on, we have some news about Livgarden. The clan was slacking lately due to Wellington resigning as clanleader, but now they are picking up again under new leadership. Heinz has taken command, and is already reforming the clan: he plans to remove the bad apples and is working on assembling a team for the BGUnited , the current skirmish league. We wish him the best of luck! Another clan is also going through a rough period, namely the Red Company. Recently a big part of their most active members quit the clan. This resulted in Liam Cuddihy stepping down as clanleader. Some of the ex-RC members have joined 42Cdo, causing tensions between the ...

BG2: The Legendary European Clans

A lot of clans have come and gone since the release of The Battle Grounds 2 in september 2005. Our redaction has chosen 3 linebattle and 3 skirmish teams that have left a lasting impression and should not be forgotten: this is your chance to brush up on your BG2 history! Note: This list is not a ranking. The clans are more or less in chronological order. Legendary linebattle clans: 1) The Royal Recruits, [TRR]: This clan goes back to Bg1 - they are the godfathers of linebattling. Being the first to hold public linebattles with a set of understandable rules and developing the basic commanding techniques, this clan has really  laid the foundation of the linebattling we know today. But it doesn't stop there: their mappers have made a large number of very well-known and popular linebattle maps such as trr_towton and trr_strangeways. Their member Grantelbart even joined the Bg2 developers. On top of all the linebattling they also participated in several skirmish leagues - and were...

Match Report: |42Cdo| vs |RC|

Date: 17th January 2010 Time: 2100GMT Server: |42Cdo| Map: trr_territory2 Score: |42Cdo| 6 - |RC| 4 Writeup: The first match for |RC| after losing a large number of members, especially a good proportion of their highest ranking members.  They proved that with this close match the damage done by the departures wasn't irreparable. |42Cdo| elected to go Americans first, smart move as the map is very American sided and getting an early lead always impacts on the enemies moral.  |42Cdo| made good use of dual lines catching |RC| off guard at first.  |RC| tried to respond with the same tactic but to no avail.  The first five rounds went to the American |42Cdo|. Some |RC| members let this brutal scoreline get the better of them, resorting to whining in chat.  The switch came, now it was all on |RC| to make good use of the American bias of the map. After their dual line disaster of the first half |RC| stuck with just the one while |42Cdo| reverted to a sin...
